SUMMARY:|Reading| Intertwined experiences: Bi+sexuality and non-binarity
DESCRIPTION:We at BiBerlin e.V. are looking forward to an inspiring evening with you\, our community\, and authors Alexander Graeff and Alex M. Gastel. The two will read from their books Das Spektrum Erweitern. Warum wir über Bisexualität reden müssen (Expanding the Spectrum: Why We Need to Talk About Bisexuality) and Als in meinem Ausweis noch ⬛⬛stand (When My ID Still Said ⬛⬛) from the series in* sight/out* write published by Querverlag. \nIn the panel discussion that follows\, we will hear their perspectives on the following topics\, among others\, before you can ask the authors your own questions or suggest topics for discussion in the Q&A. \n\nTo what extent are bi+sexuality and non-binarity intertwined?\nYou are both polyamorous – do you see a connection between this and bi+sexuality and/or non-binarity?\nWhat advice would you give to bi+ people who are worried about coming out or inviting in?\n\nPlaces are limited\, so please register for a free ticket and arrive on time so as not to disrupt the reading. Please remember to return your ticket if you are unable to attend so that we can give your place to someone on the waiting list. \nPlease register via EVENTBRITE. \nWant to support the authors\, our association or the bookshop? Follow us on social media. Both books can be purchased on site at Metis Books and Cafe! \nMetis Books & Café in Prenzlauer Berg: a queer\, multilingual bookshop and café run by Darío and Bruno. \nFeel free to bring your appetite with you; at Metis\, you can buy wonderful homemade focaccia and fantastic coffee creations\, among other things. (Note from the person typing this event description: Be sure to try the Shakerato coffee!!) \nAdmission to the reading is free – but we always appreciate a small donation to the association! \nDoors open at 6.30 pm for a cosy arrival and get-together\, and the reading starts at 7 pm. \nAccess via a mobile ramp is easily possible with the help of a person who will be supervising the entrance at the door. Unfortunately\, there are no toilets available for people with disabilities. We apologise for this. A public toilet is located approx. 350 m away at Falkplatz. \nThe language of the event is German. \nAnd now to the wonderful authors:\n \nAlexander Graeff\, Dr. phil.\, is a writer\, philosopher and literary mediator. He writes poetry\, prose and biographical-philosophical essays – and enjoys mixing genres. He is head of the literature programme at the Brotfabrik art and culture centre in Berlin and initiator of the reading series Schreiben gegen die Norm(en)? (Writing against the norm(s)?). In the Queer Media Society\, he advocates for greater visibility of queer people and topics in German-language literature. Graeff is involved in cultural policy\, including in the Berlin Literature Conference (BLK)\, the Network of Independent Literature in Berlin (NFLB) and PEN Berlin. He has conducted academic research in the fields of social sciences\, history and religious studies\, focusing in particular on phenomena of marginalisation and deviance. He lives in Berlin. \n@tentaclesiriuss \nwww.alexander-graeff.de \n \nAlex M. Gastel\, pronouns (dey/them)\, is the author of the book: Als in meinem Ausweis noch … stand (When my ID still said …). Dey often writes angrily\, sometimes hotly\, and mostly without imposter syndrome. Alex lives with their partner and cat in Wedding and gives workshops on empowerment\, creative writing\, discrimination-sensitive language\, and other anti-discrimination topics from a queer perspective. Dey once studied linguistics and now uses this knowledge primarily to expose bullshit arguments from language conservatives. In their private life\, Alex enjoys climbing mountain peaks and setting board game victory point records. \n@empowerndes_schreiben \nwww.empowerndes-schreiben.de
